We are open for inside classes, outside classes, and online classes!
My first martial arts lesson was in 1982. I had always been interested in martial arts and loved watching all the movies that came out. That's why when I had the chance to sign up for judo at my school I jumped at the chance. From that point on I was hooked.
During my years of training in Tae Kwon Do I would take classes along side individuals with special needs. As I worked my way up in belts my Master would have me assist our special needs students during classes and while testing. I enjoyed doing it and I guess he thought I was good at it because he kept having me do it.
Fast forward to 2015. I now have a soon to be step-daughter with autism. The opportunity presented itself to start teaching a dedicated special needs program. It started out with a few students one day a week, and now it's many students over multiple classes during the week!
The average person can see so many benefits from taking martial arts. What seems to be a secret is that so can people with special needs! In fact the special needs community can benefit even more! The potential to increase flexibility, coordination, range of motion, and concentration if incredibly beneficial. In addition this population can have a sedentary lifestyle. Martial arts gets them moving and provides a fun social environment.
Don't take my word for it. I have posted some links of articles I have found that speak about the benefits. If you have questions or would like more information about the programs I offer please send me a message.
